Voluntary Arts Week 12-20 May
Voluntary Arts Week (www.voluntaryartsweek.org) takes place 12-20 May and there are many ways to get involved.
This year, the theme is What's in your window? to encourage people to display something in their window. It could be a painting, a QUILT, a photo of your singing group – anything which shows off the thing you love doing!
Quilts at the local libraries

Bourne Quilters will be showing work at Havant and Hayling Island Libraries. At Havant Library miniature wallhangings and other small items will be displayed throughout June and July. At Hayling Island wall-hangings will be displayed throughout July.
Bourne Quilters at the Emsworth Arts Trail

This weekend (5-6 May) several of us represented Bourne Quilters on the Emsworth Arts Trail. We were in the Lumley Room at the Community Centre.
After much worry about having enough work to hang to make a good display, we managed to fill the walls with work from previous years. The 2012 raffle quilt was on display as well, so ticket sales have already begun.
Janet Twinn

Our meeting on 11th June will be a talk from Janet Twinn. The title is ‘From Canvas to Calico: a talk describing the development of my work and my journey from paint on canvas to making Art Quilts’. Visitors welcome (£3).
Janet will also be doing a workshop on Tuesday 12th June entitled ‘Paint Effects: a one day workshop exploring the effective use of resist media: Markel sticks, wax, printing inks and acrylic media with silk paint.’ Members only.
Quilts 2012 in July
We are once again holding our biannual quilt show which, over the last decade, has become one of the major events held regularly at the Community Centre.
This year, Quilts 2012 takes place on Saturday and Sunday, 28–29 July and is open from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm on both days. The entrance fee is £2.00. Do bring the whole family - husbands and children get in for free. There is something for everyone to see and do.
